DON’T LET NETFLIX DISTRACT YOU FROM YOUR GOALS

So Netflix, a majority of people use this streaming service to watch shows and movies on. And you can get so immersed into watching so many shows and or movies in one go, without any interruptions. Apart from that pop-up that pops up asking “are you still watching the show?” when you’re a couple episodes into watching a show.

Which I find so annoying because whether I am actually watching the show or not, I pay the monthly fee, so it should not matter. But that’s what Netflix likes to do.

Are you still watching picture, corba kai

I would like to include Amazon Prime Video in this post, but I don’t have it and not familar with the layout of this particular service.

So during these Pandemic times and being in many Lockdowns since March 2020. And not given much notice when these lockdowns happen. Many of us are at home more, if not still continuing with working a normal job routine.

And there is not much to watch on Normal TV, in my opinion as many shows get repeated on TV and constantly re-showing old movies.

SO WHERE DO YOU GO?

“NETFLIX”

Netflix gives you the opportunity to choose what you would like to watch, and when it comes to TV shows, watching as many episodes and seasons in one go. And not having to wait one week for the next new episode to be available.

Leading to many hours being lost, from watching just one season which sometimes can contain over 20 episodes in it. Imagine the hours, and days lost, being caught up in one or more shows in one go?

Those hours and days lost consuming the shows, could of been re-invested into yourself and future plans and activites. The projects you are doing to improve your life or just living in the moment.

Anyways for me there are many times I would of been ready to bulk watch a new show or the next season to a show, when it first comes out on Netflix. But nowadays I am reserved and I set aside time to watch the new show or movie on Netflix. Once I have invested time into projects and tasks that I want to complete.

Because I know how I am, once I get stuck into the new show, episode or movie, nothing else is going to get done until after. Which might be many, many days after.

AVOID BEING DISTRACTED BY NETFLIX BY THESE SIMPLE THINGS YOU CAN DO –

PATIENCE

Have patience the show/movies will be on Netflix for awhile, no need to rush.

COMPLETE IMPORTANT TASKS AND PROJECTS FIRST

At least by doing the important tasks and projects first, they will not be on your mind while you’re watching the show/movie. Guilt-free watching. Without any distractions.

AVOID SHOW/MOVIE RELATED FORUMS AND GROUPS

By doing this you can avoid seeing spoilers that can ruin your expectations, into what you think will happen next in the show or how the movie will end. And avoid certain social media platforms to as people like to show off that they have watched the show or movie and might discuss spoilers also.

SET TARGETS

When you have completed a suffcient amount of work for the tasks or projects. Then you can allot some time to watch the new movie or show. Lets call it a reward 🙂

BE SERIOUS

If you really want to be serious and stay focused. Log out off Netflix completely on all devices, your TV, phones and tablets. And if you can remove the app from your devices. So even if you can’t resist the urge to tap on the app, it will not be there or it will be a hassle to log back on, during this time you will continue to invest your time more effectively.

REMEMBER THE ENDGAME

Always remember the endgame and stay focused. Remember why you’re doing the task/project. The benefits from completing the task/project. And how good you will feel after. And why it is good to complete these.

Luckily for me there are only a few Netflix shows I would stop everything for, but right now productions for these shows have been delayed. Due to COVID-19 and social distancing filming restrictions.

Even though I am TV soap addict, luckily again I can record normal TV shows on my Virgin Media box, to watch at a later time and date. So I can watch them at my own convenience.

REMEMBER –

STAY FOCUSED

STAY PRODUCTIVE

REMEMBER THE WHY?

And don’t just use the excuse to watch shows and movies on Netflix as a way of self-care. When there are so many other things you can do for self-care.

Maybe I did this post because I realised how I used to use Netflix regularly, get lost in many shows and movies, many days wasted. But was immersed in the shows I was watching. But like I have said in the post, I’m not in a rush to watch the new shows nowadays. But could easily fall into the trap again, if I don’t stay focused on my plans and to make sure 2021 is not like 2020, even though it already feels like it, being in Lockdown again. It takes a lot of effort to keep being productive, but this is where making a daily schedule comes into play, so you are getting tasks and work done.

And to not wonder, where did the time go?andwhat do I have or what have I done to show for it?”

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS?

IS NETFLIX YOUR GO-TO TO WATCH SHOWS AND MOVIES?

DO YOU THINK YOU’RE WATCHING TO MANY SHOWS ON NETFLIX?

    1. Thank you for reading. I do still have a guilty pleasure show, but it’s not on Netflix. I was even thinking I have not watched a show or movies on Netflix for a couple of weeks now, why am I still paying for it. It’s a backup entertainment provider. Right now I am really trying to be productive and keep myself busy during this 3rd lockdown in the UK. I am waiting out on some of my favourite shows to come back. I have not binged watched stranger things for a very long time. It’s perfectly fine to indulge every now and again
