This post was inspired by a recent post I read by OLIVIA LUCIE BLAKE called 17 BLOG POST IDEAS YOUR READERS WILL LOVE
So I thought I would write on this.
Why it’s ok to take blogging breaks?
As a person who has taken many blogging breaks since last year due to the ups and downs of life. I wanted to share my thoughts and reasons why it’s ok to take blogging breaks.
TO TAKE STOCK OF THE BLOGGING PROGRESSES MADE
Being a blogger, you can get blogger tunnel vision, blogging becomes and is life. And sometimes it can be forgotten to appreciate the blogging milestones made. Due to being so engrossed in blogging life.
So take some time out and look at what you have accomplished and achievements made. And remember you’re not a machine. And remember what inspire you to blog to give you more focus.
TO GIVE YOUR MIND A GOOD REST
Now this is important especially if blogging is full time for you. Sometimes blogging can become overwhelming. And it’s not as simple as those who don’t blog think it is, from thinking of the content for the post, to creating the post and making sure the information is correct so research is needed to be done. Creating a catchy title, finding the right pictures, inserting links and making sure everything is to a good standard to publish. A busy mind is not a good creative mind, with other distractions getting in the way. So take time away from blogging regular or when needed. To come back with a fresh approach and mind.
WHEN YOU’RE STRESSED AND NOT ENJOYING THE BLOGGING PROCESS
This is a good time to take a break. As sometimes it might not be that your stressed about blogging, but it most likely could come from other personal issues going on in your life. And the knock on effect is that you may start to dislike blogging and the process of blogging. Or it may be because your close to a deadline and panicking because you feel their is not enough time to complete it before the deadline.
I feel when I have a lot going on in my personal life, I go through love/hate phases with blogging. And just take breaks for however long and resume blogging when I feel ready and inspired again.
WHEN SUDDEN CHANGES HAPPEN IN LIFE
As we know life can be unpredictable sometimes, well many times to be honest. Things can change at a blink of the eye. And having to adapt to sudden change can be a challenge. But just remember it’s all about the priorities in your life, they have to come first and then allocating time to when you can go back to and invest time into blogging again. And understand the process and why, and not to be too hard on yourself. Including health issues and other commitments.
WRITERS BLOCK AND FEELING MENTALLY DRAINED
I think many bloggers and writers have experienced writers block. I myself have experienced this many times. To be honest and also because I’m easily distracted. Sometimes ideas don’t come to my mind so easily. Inspiration is needed or even by asking myself questions and writing down the answers, can help get the creative juices flowing to get inspirations to create new blog posts.
Feeling mentally drained can be brought on by so many reasons including –
- Not getting enough sleep
- Overthinking regular
- Worrying about other things
- Sudden changes
- Bad news (including breakup, and loss)
- Physical overexertion
- Mental overexertion
- And much more
It takes time to recover if you’re feeling mentally drained. But have patience and keep things in life simple. And do what you can do, and do what you have to do to feel better. A longer break is required if you’re feeling mentally drained.
SO WHAT DO YOU THINK?
ARE YOU HARD ON YOURSELF WHEN YOU HAVE TO TAKE UNEXPECTED BREAKS FROM BLOGGING?
DO YOU TAKE REGULAR BREAKS FROM BLOGGING?
DO YOU SCHEDULE BLOGGING BREAKS?

I find it hard to take breaks because I’m working towards growing my blog at the moment. I feel as though pausing now would hinder my progress. But I admit that breaks are significantly necessary!

Yesss! Because I work, have a daughter as well as other family and friend responsibilities and stuff, I have to take breaks because I do get burnt out. Even if I feel a jolt or rush from blogging consistently or every day outputs, I notice after certain “challenges” like month long blogging or posting challenges, I’m beat!!!
