So 2021 has and will be the year of no time wasting. Remember 2020? Anyways watching a Youtube video last year and making my notes, as I have a bad brain. I think I have been meaning to do a post about this subject for a very long time, but other things got in the way.
Like I said this year I am not messing around this year, and wasting time due to uncontrollable obstacles and not knowing what to do next.
The video in question was by Patricia Bright, she is a well know youtuber. The video is actually called Increase your Productivity. She share tips on to having a better routine to get tasks done. On her second Youtube channel called The Break
WEEKLY PLANNER
Use a weekly planner to plan your day to day activities, hour by hour on the night before. Plan in advance, make are scheduling in, in the right times and not double booking. Think “what do I want to achieve?” and “When does it have to be done?” Then you can get straight to action with the task. What I am doing right now is a daily schedule by writing what needs to be done on pieces of paper, but think I need to get a purpose book or a large A4 size 2021 diary to have everything all together. And so I don’t lose important information on pieces of paper. I write so many notes, information, and what to do on different pieces of paper, can get overwhelming when trying to find them.
GET RID OF DISTRACTIONS
Yes put all devices you are not using to one side, and not in visual view. Pause notifications on your devices. Make sure where you are working there are no other physical distractions, like loud music. Have a do not disturb sign. Find a quiet place or if you like play relaxing music. Have something to drink nearby, so you don’t have to go too far hen you are thirsty and a few snacks for when you are feeling peckish.
LEARN TO PRIORITISE
“Do not confuse busy, with being productive ” Patricia Bright says.
You can be busy, but have no output to show for it. Try to tackle the hardest task first, it may seem different or tricky but you will feel relieved once it is done. Even though it might be the task that takes the most time. The tasks after get easier once the hardest one is done first.
PARKINSON’S LAW
Patricia spoke about Parkinson’s Law in the video, it is about the view that “concept time is ever expanding ” I guess this can be a metaphor to say that TIME is ever changing.
Have time boxes to get tasks done. For example make sure you allot a certain amount of time for each task to be completed. Create your own deadlines, BE YOUR OWN MANAGER to get tasks completed effectively.
AUDIT YOUR OWN PERFORMANCE
Self audit yourself from time to time. Think about –
- What have I achieved?
- What is my output? Did you put your all into the task?
- What went well? Completing many tasks to schedule and time
- What went wrong? Example bad time management
It is good to SELF-AUDIT so you can learn from what you have done and improve if you need to.
BE ACCOUNTABLE!!!
STAYING FOCUSED
This is my add on to this. Getting settled to working at home compared to a office. For me I have not been in employment for awhile now. But staying focused can be tricky sometimes. Again having a good schedule helps me with this. My office is my kitchen. No television to distract me, just the good music on the radio or playing my fave playlist on Spotify. And looking out the window to watch outside. And taking breaks when needed as I lose concentration if not properly focused. Blogging is not easy but it is all about have a good strategy to get tasks done, along with many to do lists. And not to be distracted by many TV shows and Netflix.
ONLY YOU CAN SUCCEED OR FAIL!!
These are wonderful tips

So true! I cannot function without a planner and really need distractions out the way if I’m to get anything done!

I have started to plan better, I printed of month calendars, and started to actually research awareness days, as I am always hearing about specific days on the day, so no notice to plan content around it. Not a big fan of February 14th, but have written 2 post around this day already. I am still old-school with printing of calendars, than to use planning and scheduling apps.
