So the NEW YEAR is upon us. You want to set some fitness goals. Lockdown restrictions keeps on closing the Gyms.
But don’t let that stop you from setting your fitness goals.
It’s all about how you are going to set your goals and execute your lifestyle changes.
Make sure you are –
BEING REALISTIC
Be realistic in what you want your goals to be. And know if you want to lose a huge amount of weight, you are going to have to invest a huge amount of time into the new fitness routine.
BEING SPECIFIC
Be specific, do you want a a overall body change or just to tone up certain parts of your body?
HELP IF NEEDED
If you feel you need help, then ask for help and advise from someone who knows more. And they can give you advice and tips to stay on track with your new fitness routine.
SETTING DIFFERENT TIME FRAMES
Set different time frames for the particular results you would like to see. And havew knowledge on how long it will take to see results, and not just base it on high expectations.
KNOW YOUR WHY?
Know the reason why you are doig what you are doing, and it should not be to follow a trend.
BE KIND TO YOURSELF
Yes be kind to yourself, especially if this is something new for you or if you have not challenged your body like this for a long time. It will time time to adjust to a new routine. And you may hit some obstacles along the way.
MAKE IT FUN
Make it fun, when it is something you enjoy doing, you will continue to enjoy it more. Compared to if you don’t enjoy doing it, as you may end up doing it less. Defeating the purposed of doing a new fitness routine.
MAKE IT EASY FOR YOURSELF
Remember what I said in BE KIND TO YOURSELF. Also make the routine easy for yourself. You are more likely to have a greater output, if the new fitness routine is at a standard that you can maintain.
MAKE A PROGRESSIVE PLAN
Make sure it is ever-changing, and that you can adapt to make changes easily.
CHANGE YOUR PERSPECTIVE
Yes this is very important to change your mindset, to be able to start the new fitness routine. And not to carry around negative baggage, that can hinder your preformance.
BE PATIENT
Learn how to rest and not quit. And be patient with yourself. I will take time to see results. Stay focuced on the end goal.
MENTAL WELLBEING
Don’t forget your mental well being. What will drive you the most is your mental wellbeing, if you do not feel positive, you will not be positive. Know and understand your body. And don’t try to overdo things, listen to your body, it will indicate to you that you need to slowdown if you are doing too much.
HOW TO KEEP FIT IF GYMS ARE CLOSED?
- Home workouts
- Jogging outside regular
- Brisk walking for low impact exercise
- Join a outside fitness club
- Watch and do fitness videos on Youtube
And make sure you’re wearing the correct clothing for comfort and footwear.
Fun is definitely important! It will have such a huge impact on your motivation to get up and do something. I enjoy CrossFit because it’s like working out with your friends and if you don’t show up, you hold each other accountable!

Ohhhhh crossfit.
I think once things get better in London, and hopefully out of lockdown, I would like to join some fitness groups, including walking groups and Zumba outside. I don’t go to the gym but they are closed due to lockdown restrictions. And social gatherings minimum amount of people. There are many online classes, but I just go at my own pace walking. Having past feet and knee injuries I am restricted in what I can do.
