THINGS I’M THANKFUL FOR IN 2020

So I had a prompt for this post by a fellow blogger OLIVIA LUCIE BLAKE, she did a post about TWENTY THING I’M THANKFUL FOR IN 2020. And this made me think about what I am thankful for in 2020. So here goes

thank you picture

PEOPLE

People who have helped me when I have needed help, many people I know on social media. And making new friends, be it that many are virtual friends. COVID-19 and social distancing.

THE INTERNET

The internet is a life saver for me, and not just for the fact of social media, but even to send and recieve emails you need the internet for it too. Early this year I was going through a tough time financially, with no home internet services as I could not afford it and had to make sure priority bills was being paid and limited data on my mobile phone. I thought to joined up my local Library for free internet, and it was not for social media I was using the free internet service at my library, it was mainly for emails, getting job notification by emails. And I was awaiting interview details, which I went to, but sadly didn’t get the job. this was in April before the Libraries had to close due to COVID-19 spreading and social distancing rules. In May I was able to get a cheaper mobile plan with unlimited data, in July I was able to set up a payment plan with my home internet services, and got it back on. But I do miss the quiet times when there was no internet, even though I was too young to savour those moments and enjoying life many, many years ago.

LEARNING NEW SKILLS

So during the beginning of the first Lockdown, I made sure to take advantage of all the free webinars that companies and people were doing. Learning about new things which will be benefical for me in the future. Eventbrite was great best place to look for free webinars and courses, and following many companies on social media also. But there was a time I experienced Zoom fatigue, but I just think its a thing when you’re watching the screen continuosly and listening to the people talk, the body does tend to feel tired, because you are not moving around. And I am not a coffee drinker, even drinking Luczade I am unable to sleep well due to the caffiene contents in it, so the effects of drinking coffee would be worse.

TAKING TIME OUT TO REFLECT

This year really has been a time to reflect on many things, even the things I tried to avoid thinking about. This was easily done by keeping busy, but because of COVID-19 many things had to slowed down, and gave me extra time in the days to actually take stock at life. And thinking about things more deeply also, and properly planning for the future.

BLOGGING

Well I actually got back into blogging, because I was writing more in the beginning of the first Lockdown. Which has been very good for me, and sharing my knowledge, thoughts and experiences with others.

HEALTH

I properly recovered from my knee sprain early this year 2020, which to be honest took a very long time to heal to the fact that I was actually considering taking steroid injections for the pain. But thankfully the pain did start to subside and then make a full recovery to be ready to work again, but then COVID-19 happened and hindered job opportunities.

BEING ABLE TO CHALLENGE MYSELF

I have not achieved many challenges this year, but I am proud of what I have achieved, and still being here to share today.

NOT GIVING UP

This year there has been many silent battles with myself, and for now I am beating them. And acknowledging failures and not dwelling on them and moving on.

NEW FRIENDS MADE

Even though many are online than in real-life I am still thankful.

MENTAL HEALTH

Well my mental health has not defeated me, that I am not here today. I have been through a lot in my life. But some how I am still pushing through to see another day, with everything that is going on in life and the world.

ADJUSTING TO CHANGE

I would admit I am stubborn to change, and don’t like it when things change suddenly, and what I have to put myself through to adjust to change. But it does take time, and you know what? I CAN DO IT

GOOD HEALTHCARE SERVICES

I am thankful to be in a country the has a good healthcare service. And help is always there when I need it.

RELIABLE FRONTLINE STAFF

This includes retail/shop workers, public transport workers, and postal workers. they really do not pay enough and praised enough for what they do everyday. Thankyou

MUSIC

For me life without music wouldn’t be the same, than life with music. I throughly enjoy listening to music, whether it be popular music, or 80s music. Or listening to my guilty pleasure music like WHAM and George Michael and Prince, and just listening to feel good music. Music just lifts my mood.

TIKTOK

Who knew in January 2020 that in April I would go back on Tiktok, and enjoying the app like I do. 🙂

HAVING A ROOF OVER MY HEAD

This year has been a financial loss for me and having to get a DEBT RELIEF ORDER, to help with my situation, which I will talk about in a future blog because of my debts. But I always made sure my priority bills were paid, and a roof over my head. And seeked advice and help with Citizen Advice Bureau, when I needed to.

SEEING THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL

The way how I overthink things many time for many reasons, but haven’t experienced a bad depression phase in 2020 despite what has happened, I am very surprised. Don’t get me wrong I do have many down days, but they don’t lasted for long.

INNER STRENGTH

Something inside me is keeping me going, through all the struggles and obstacles.

BEING MORE OPEN WITH MYSELF

Having more time on my hands, I have had to acknowledge many failure and the thing I have done wrong. Tackle these thoughts and understand myself more, than to just put up with things because it makes life easier. And be kind to myself when things go wrong.

HAVING CREATIVE FREEDOM

If I was unable to be creative and have a creative outlet for whatever reason, it really would of had a bad impact on my mental health. So I am thankful for the ways I can be creative, whether it be through blogging, creating content for my Instagram page or Youtube channel. And newly being creative on Tiktok.

There maybe a few items I have not spoken about in this post, I will leave them for another time. But overall these are what have gotten me through this Pandemic year, 2020.

WHAT ARE YOU THANKFUL FOR IN 2020?
